Philadelphia's Center City District Unveils Architectural Facade Lighting Along the Avenue of the Arts

Recently Center City District threw the switch on a celebratory holiday gift for the City of Philadelphia, illuminating the historic façades along the Avenue of the Arts. Color changing LED lighting, provided by Philips, transformed the streetscape into a multi-color canvas for the holidays and city-wide celebration.


Lighting Science Welcomes the New Year with a Bigger and Brighter Ball in 4.3 Billion Colors

Lighting Science Group Corp., a developer and integrator of intelligent and efficient LED solutions, has designed, developed and produced an integrated lighting system for the 2009 Time Square New Year's Eve Ball. The Ball, which boasts a system comprised of 672 LED modules, was installed on Nov. 26, 2008 in Times Square, N.Y. where it will continue to remain year round.


Brooks & Dunn Electrify Stages Across the Nation with Daktronics Modular Displays

One of country music’s most electrifying acts received a high-tech boost this
spring as Brooks & Dunn, in partnership with Media Visions, Inc., added a trio of
Daktronics LED video displays, comprised of 75 PST-12HD modular LED panels, to their onstage set for the group’s 2008 Cowboy Town tour. The year-long event began in mid-February with the new stage design making its first appearance on May 9 at a show in Virginia Beach, Va. at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.

Revolution in Exterior Car Lighting: The First SUV with LED Headlights

Osram LEDs are shining on a new era in automotive lighting. The Cadillac Escalade
Platinum is the first SUV in the world to offer LED headlights as standard equipment. Osram LEDs power all functions in the headlights supplied by Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., a manufacturer in automotive lighting innovation, including low beam, high-beam, daytime running lights, position lights and side marker lights. The Escalade Platinum, Cadillac's luxurious sport utility vehicle will be launched in 2008.

The 57-story exteriors of two Times Square buildings were transformed into a snow-covered Mount Everest. A rumbling avalanche was added, as were flying acrobatic climbers and a hair-raising roar. Most importantly, the piercing “You lookin’ at ME?” glare of the Yeti, fierce guardian of the Himalayan Mountains, was brought to life by the glowing red eyes from Osram Sylvania and Osram Opto Semiconductors.

Target Interactive Breezeway at Rockefeller Center

High atop New York’s Rockefeller Center is a unique, interactive space that takes the capabilities of intelligent LED lighting to new creative heights. Conceptualized by Electroland of Los Angeles, the Target Interactive Breezeway is an imaginatively lit passage that connects the Center’s top floor observation decks. Its intention is to engage visitors as they pass through by tracing their movement with intelligently controlled light.

LED Daytime Running Light for the Audi R8

The Advanced Power TopLED from Osram Opto Semiconductors has graduated to the new sports car with the four rings, the Audi R8. The headlights now feature LEDs with the tiny light sources emphasizing the sleek curves. The LEDs provide high-visibility daytime running light without placing an appreciable load on fuel consumption.


Nation's First "LED City"

Cree, Inc. and the City of Raleigh, N.C., the anchor city in a rapidly growing metro area, have launched a joint, city-wide initiative to test, deploy and promote LED technology focused on a variety of general lighting applications. The “LED City” initiative is designed to create a “living laboratory” to deliver the economic, environmental and usage benefits of LED lighting to the residents of Raleigh.
